Katrina Davis capped her Cal Giffin OVAC Cross-Country Championships career with a 26th-place overall finish and a 4th-place finish in Class 3A to lead the Lady Reds to a third-place team finish.
Davis crossed the line with a time of 21:14 improving on her time from last years’ championships by over a full minute. Freshman Bethany McElfresh continued her fine initial season with a 36th-place overall finish and a time of 21:38 which was good for 5th-place finish in Class 3A. Senior Tayah Frazier completed the race in 78th place and a time of 23:54 which was good for 14th-place in Class 3A. Other scorers for the Lady Reds included Kaleigh Leigh (143rd, 27:26, 34th Class 3A) and Abbie Gianangeli (145th, 27:31, 36th Class 3A).
The junior-high girls competed as well and the team finished in 13th place out of 15 teams. Alivia Traversa once again led the team with a 42nd-place finish and a time of 15:23 over the two-mile course. Makayla Marlin finished just behind Traversa with a 44th-place finish and a time of 15:25 while Constance Stewart finished in 68th-place with a time of 16:33. Other scorers for the young Reds included Ashlyn Rose (78th, 17:38) and Lily Fleming (79th, 18:03).
The cross-country team returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Buckeye Local to compete in the OVCCL Championships. This will be the last meet for the junior-high team.
