The girls and boys cross country teams competed in the Cal Pokas OVAC Championships over the weekend at Meadowbrook High School.
The girls team won their 4th straight title and 8th in school history. Leading the way for the Lady Reds was sophomore Katrina Davis coming in second overall in 3A competition. Junior Sydney Purtiman was 4th followed by sophomore Keira Bumgardner in 11th and senior Tiffany Hoffman in 16th. Rounding out team scoring were sophomores Abbie Gianangeli in 18th, Tayah Frazier in 21st, and Ashley Speece 25th place. Freshman Maddie Beckett finished 30th.
The boys team captured their 10th OVAC title in school history. They have won the 3A title three times in the last four years. Senior Clay Moore was the overall 3A Champion. He was also named to the ALL OVAC Team. Other top finishers in 3 A competition were freshman Jacob Defibaugh at 6th, senior Zach Lowe in 7th, Juniors Hunter Huston and Isaiah Wilhelm in 9th and 10th, Seniors Andrew McAninch and Robbie Silber in 11th and 16th, and Freshman Ethan Shaver in 12th place.
Both teams compete in their final regular season meet of the year this Saturday at Buckeye Local High School in the Ohio Valley Cross Country League Championships. Seniors will be honored at 9:00 am. The high school girls race is set to start 9:30 am followed by the high school boys, junior high girls, and then the junior high boys.
